William Rice, MD

Dr. Rice graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1997. He then attended the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and graduated in 2001. He completed surgical residency in 2006 and served 14 years on Active Duty in the US Army where he deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He has performed the full scope of general surgery but has focused his practice on the treatment of obesity and its related health problems. Dr. Rice served as the medical director of a bariatric program for 4 years in the Army before starting up a new bariatric program for Presbyterian Health System in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2015. Dr. Rice performs all of his surgeries using the laparoscopic or minimally invasive approach. He has also performed hundreds of DaVinci robotic procedures to include gastric bypass and bariatric revision surgeries.
