Rickesha Wilson, MD started her surgical practice at Cleveland Clinic in 2021 and specializes in metabolic and bariatric surgery, foregut, general surgery including benign gallbladder and appendiceal disease, groin and ventral hernias, and handles a variety of general surgical emergencies. She offers minimally invasive surgical approaches to her patients with both laparoscopic and robotic platforms for smaller incisions, less pain, and a shorter hospital stay. She is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of General Surgery and holds certification from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) for specialized training in bariatric surgery. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Dr. Wilson received her Bachelor of Science from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and her Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from Texas A&M College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency training at the University of Connecticut in 2019 and completed a Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in 2021. Dr. Wilson has distinguished herself as an excellent educator and researcher. She has been appointed as the Associate Program Director for Cleveland Clinic’s Bariatric Surgery Fellowship, is part of the educational leadership for the Cleveland Clinic’s General Surgery Residency Program and is the Associate Surgery Clerkship Director for CCLCM and CWRU. Dr. Wilson is a national leader in the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery with numerous publications in high impact journals and media outlets focusing on the impact of metabolic and bariatric surgery on obesity and its related conditions. She serves as the chair of the Public Education Committee for ASMBS focusing on educating the public about obesity and treatment options, including bariatric surgery. She has been elected by her peers as President of the Cleveland Surgical Society for the 2024-2025 year and plans to unite surgeons in the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio region to better serve the local community and patients. Dr. Wilson’s approach to patient care is marked by empathy, compassion, and kindness, and she values the relationships that she builds with her patients long-term. She resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
