Dr. Garneau completed his general surgery residency at Laval University in 1996, Quebec, Canada. He then worked as a fellow in trauma and intensive care at the University of Montreal. Given his great interest in minimally invasive, bariatric and robotic surgery, he gradually abandoned the practice of general surgery to focus only on bariatric surgery for the last 15 years.
He is currently chief of the surgical department at the CIUSSS Nord de l’Ile of Montreal. He is an associate professor at the University of Montreal and the program director of the fellowship in minimally invasive, bariatric and robotic surgery. He is also the secretary of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physician and Surgeon (CABPS). He’s actually Board Executive member for IFSO NAC.
