Jerry Dang, MD PhD FRCSC

Dr. Jerry Dang is a US and Canadian board-certified surgeon specialized in advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, and flexible surgical endoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Dang has extensive experience with research. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters on topics related to bariatric surgery and minimally invasive surgery which focuses on both clinical and basic science. His basic science publications focus on the relationship between the gut microbiome, metabolome, bile acids, gut hormones, and bariatric surgery. He has a Doctor of Philosophy with his thesis entitled The Intestinal Physiology of Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Dang has won major awards and grants for his research. He has won major grants including the 2017 SAGES Research Grant, the 2017 Canadian Surgical Research Fund, and the 2018 ASMBS Research Grant and was recently awarded the prestigious SAGES Research-in-Training and ASMBS International awards. Despite being early in his career, his work has been cited over 1600 times including in the SAGES Manual of Bariatric Surgery and the ASMBS Textbook of Bariatric Surgery.
