Ivan Strachan, MD

MD (Summa Cum Laude / Gold title) graduated from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana (1989). He later studied specialization in general surgery (Summa Cum Laude / 100 points) and subspecialty in thoracic surgery at the Hospital - Surgical " Hermanos Ameijeiras " in Havana, Cuba.

Dr. Strachan has had additional training in the Dominican Republic, Colombia and the United States in the area of ​​bariatric and metabolic surgery.

From 2010 Dr. Strachan has developed an alternative technique to the gastric sleeve or sleeve gastrectomy in order to improve the results of this procedure. Currently has more than 500 cases with new técnica.El Dr. Strachan has been invited to major international events to present their art such as the XIII World Congress of Laparoscopic Surgery 2012, SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Surgeons) 2012 and 2013, the IV Global Consensus gastric sleeve 2012, the V Congress IFSO Latin American Bariatric and metabolic surgery 2013, at the XVIII World Congress of the international Federation for the surgery of Obesity and metabolic disorders (IFSO 2013) in Istanbul, the XX Congress of the Latin American Federation of Surgery (FELAC 2013) and ALACE, 2014 Panama.), in the XIX World Congress IFSO 2014, at the sixth Congress Latin American IFSO 2015 and 86 Argentine Congress and XII of ALACE.

His continuing education has allowed to achieve a high level of renovation in the field of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery with international recognition. It has also introduced and developed in the country minimally invasive thoracic surgery of high complexity.
