Elizabeth Alexandra Zubowicz, MD, FACS, is a board-certified minimally invasive, general and bariatric surgeon. She specializes in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, with a focus on bariatric surgery and hernia surgery. She performs both open as well as minimally invasive surgery, with a focus on robotic surgery and its advancement in the realm of general surgery. Dr. Zubowicz is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Americas Hernia Society. She has presented at numerous regional and national conferences and has been published in multiple peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Zubowicz is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed her residency training in general surgery at the Medstar-Georgetown Program in Washington, DC. In addition to weight loss and hernia surgery, she also regularly works with the emergency general surgery service. She specializes in bowel obstructions, gallbladder disease, diverticular disease and soft tissue problems including benign "lumps and bump" to the more complicated issues of hidradenitis and serious soft tissue infections.
