David Cancelada, MD

After a 25 year career as an Army surgeon, Dr. Cancelada is currently practicing in rural Kansas, providing comprehensive general surgery services to include the sleeve gastrectomy for bariatric surgery. A firm believer in the multi-disciplinary approach in medicine to include weight loss surgery, Dr. Cancelada works closely with nutritionists and others who are part of a multi-disciplinary team for patients to obtain a healthy weight. He has found that the sleeve gastrectomy provides excellent outcomes for his patients in terms of weight loss and avoids the chronic malabsorption or foreign body risks of other procedures, making this a procedure of choice for most of his patients. His goal is to provide as safe a surgery as possible by minimizing risk through best practices and providing close follow up.
