Position Summary
The MBS coordinator assists in program development, managing the accreditation process, ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP standards, maintaining relevant pathways and protocols, patient education, monitoring outcomes data and collection, quality improvement initiatives and the education of relevant staff with a focus on metabolic and bariatric patient safety. The MBS coordinator supports the development of written protocols and education of nursing staff detailing the rapid communication and basic response to critical patient findings that are specifically required to minimize delays in the diagnosis and treatment of serious adverse events.
The MBS Coordinator administrates the MBS Committee and must attend all required meetings, one of which must be the annual comprehensive review meeting. Prepares the meeting agenda and ensure all necessary team members are present.
Collaborates on an ongoing basis with Medical Director, clinic staff and physicians, promoting positive communication techniques and the ability to problem solve at every level.
Works with Medical Director to anticipate and identify the needs of the center and creatively implements solutions to problems. Integrates Evidence Based Practice into clinic improvements.

Responsibilities include conducting pre-surgical psychosocial evaluations, providing pre- and post-surgical health psychology interventions, and collaboration with providers on the multidisciplinary weight management team. The health psychologist will have the opportunity to work with other populations to complement the work in bariatrics. Secondary area of specialization is open.
